The Palms on the Palm
The main concept is driven by the idea of a set of grand inhabitable palms that are grown on the Palm of Dubai. The morphology of the palms suggest that trunks are extrapolated into a series of inhabited cones which host the main bulk of hotel rooms. The symbol is of growth, festivity and prosperity.

Floating hotel – Mirage / mirrored massing
The main mass of the hotel is located in the cones and the inhabitable roof, while club, communal areas, services and parking are embedded in the ground. From the distance the upper and lower building mass are conceptually mirrored, resembling the image of a mirage. Lifting up a large constructive mass from the ground makes the building hover over the landscape, suggesting a poetic vision that creates illusion and fantasy. This contrast to the typical buildings of Dubai, which are more heavily rooted on the ground, will give the hotel a unique feel and reputation in the region.
