In architecture and design an experiment can take on many more roles than the proof of a thesis. The experiment is instead a particular mode of exploring the multiple and heterogeneous intersections that emerge from social, conceptual, technological, material and cultural contexts in which it is sited.
Within the symposium experimentation in design and architectural practice is discussed in respect to its site in knowledge production, the instruments used to execute these and the aims and methods that are linked to it. Three sessions will expand on this – each with a focus on a different scale of inquiry.
